The Mind of a Doer

bmf do

God is a doer. He went about creation speaking things into existence and seeing them completed at the very moment that he spoke them. On day six he decided that he wanted someone to bear his image and then gave the image bearer a command “Have dominion…” He then names off several things they are to rule over and then said, “subdue it.”

The word dominion as defined in Hebrew is “radah” meaning to dominate or tread down. The word tread as defined by the dictionary means to walk in a specific manner. Gods desire for us has always been to walk as he walks.

The word subdue is “kabash” meaning to make subservient. Subservient as defined by the dictionary holds the meaning “prepared to obey unquestionably.”

There is a lot of power packed into this command as God clearly stated his intentions for us as his most prized creation. What if we walked like God and the universe obeyed us unquestionably? There is un-doubtfully more that he has placed on the inside of us and our goal ought to be to max out the grace he has placed on us to do “far above what we could imagine or think, according to the power working in us.”

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
James 1:22 NLT
